Tonny van de Pieterman, Director
Tennis
When the late, great Daniel B. Dwyer asked me two
years ago to build the best junior development program on Long Island, Brett Nisenson was the first person I
approached. Brett and I had been working side by side on court 6 and 7 at Point
Set for the last 4 years and his passion for junior development was abundantly clear
to me. Brett’s consistent intensity in combination with his expertise in
nutrition and physical strength training has earned him the nickname ‘Mister
Fit’
My long time Argentine friend, Claudio Eulau, was my next target. We spend our summers together
teaching the junior sports camp at the prestigious Rockaway Hunting Club and
every year I see the youngsters make an astonishing transformation from
pee-wees to complete little tennis players. Claudio is a biomechanical
specialist and he will come up with customized, inventive drills to correct
every little technical problem. This foundation truly is the basis for success!
When I first met Nadia
Johnston, 7 years ago, she had just left the professional WTA tour to start
coaching. She has never dropped her professionalism with her career change. As
easy going as Australians generally are, she has a clear tennis message and the
message is heard! The players she coaches hang on her every word.
The energy and excitement that David Nisenson brings to the program is never ending. With more
than 25 years of playing experience and an unmatched competitiveness, he has
quickly become one of the driving forces behind TTP.
Phil Williams delivers booming serves in excess of 130 mph, and always follows them with a
warm smile. Our Jamaican ‘teddy bear’ is a favorite with all the players. He is
very passionate about tournament play and stays in touch with several current
professional ATP Tour players.
Packer Institute (Brooklyn) Head coach Matt Levy completes the TTP staff. With
his quick wit and easy going personality, Matt is the perfect team coach. In
back-to-back years he guided our Point Set travel teams to Long Island playoff
appearances as well as winning the 2011 Long Island Championships to advance to the Eastern Sectional.
The TTP staff has developed a training system that
delivers turbo-charged learning on the tennis court by means of purposeful
practice. All our drills, exercises and games are designed to create silky
skills, creative audacity, fluid tempo and effortless acceleration. The junior
players are improving quickly in an inspiring environment in which fun and
sportsmanship are key and steady improvement is the main goal.
